Corrections Officer — Entry Pay: $60,077; Top Pay: $94,344; Benefits: Corrections Benefits Deputy City Marshal — Entry Pay: $55,158; Top Pay: $88,310; Benefits: Marshals Benefits Corrections Shift Differential Pay: 5% Marshal Shift Differential Pay: Swing 4% Grave 6% Ride-Along

(4:04) Tattoo & Beard Policies
Tattoo Policy All candidates are prohibited from facial or collarbone tattoos or markings. Exceptions may be made for hands and neck tattoos upon review and approval. Beard Grooming Policy Officers may grow a beard no longer than one-half inch. Testing Process & Qualifications
PHYSICAL READINESS TEST (Eligible List Placement) The Physical Readiness Test (PRT) determines placement on the eligible list. Applicants meeting minimum qualifications will be invited to test. Nevada Administrative Code NAC 289.200 sets the fitness standards for law enforcement recruits. This is a PASS/FAIL test. City of Las Vegas Testing Standards: Vertical Jump (15 inches) Agility Run (19.5 seconds) Sit-Ups (30 in 60 seconds) Push-Ups (23; no time limit; can rest in up position) 300 Meter Run (68 seconds) 1.5 Mile Run (16:57) DEPARTMENT ASSESSMENT PROCESS Candidate status is competitive with multiple steps. Typical assessments include: Background Investigation Polygraph Psychological Suitability Assessment Medical Fit-for-Duty Examination Pre-Academy Physical Readiness Test Drug Testing 1. Personal History Statement — Information forwarded to Background Investigation Unit; a link to complete the statement will be sent after passing the physical readiness test. 2. Polygraph — Invitation only. 3. Psychological Suitability Assessment — Invitation only; written assessment typically 4-5 hours; interview scheduled with psychologist. 4. Academy Selections — Competitively based on background evaluations and vacancies. Candidate Communication Email is the primary communication method during recruitment. Check email regularly. perform duties to enforce state laws, city ordinances, and regulations on city property. Marshals service 140 square miles, 130+ facilities, parks and trails. A substation opened at 420 E. Fremont St., Suite 150 in Sept 2023, shared with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and Fremont Street Experience security. As sworn officers, they may: Enforce traffic laws Pursue, arrest, and cite individuals Serve warrants Protect victims and secure crime scenes Assist other officers and the public Corrections Officers
perform duties to maintain custody and control of inmates; enforce detention and corrections regulations. Full job description available. Experience & Requirements Experience: One year of work experience (not necessarily law enforcement). A Bachelor's degree may substitute for one year of experience. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. License: Valid driver’s license at time of application and maintenance thereafter. Age: At least 21 years old at time of job offer. Citizenship: United States citizen at time of job offer. Special to this classification pursuant to NAC 289.110 Have no felony conviction in Nevada or equivalent Have no conviction requiring registration or misdemeanor domestic violence Have no conviction of unlawful drug possession/use Department Standards No convictions in the past 12 months (including DUI) Drug use may be disqualifying Two or more alcohol-related incidents in past 48 months may be disqualifying Recent driver’s license suspensions/revocations reviewed individually Any disqualifying military separation or misconduct Active warrants at background interview disqualifying Decertification from any law enforcement agency disqualifying Termination for cause from another criminal justice agency disqualifying Misrepresentations can be grounds for disqualification Below is a full job description for each position.
