Position Summary Responsible for being attentive to all members and guest needs while maintaining a clean, organized work environment through-out all of golf operations. Seek to oversee, develop and exceed desired expectations in his/her delegated area of responsibility within the golf operation, while assisting other team members to do the same. Relied upon to work efficiently within the procedures of each part of the operation while keeping in line with the standards of The Los Angeles Country Club and the expectations of its membership and Club management.

Position Responsibilities General

To maintain and achieve seamless member relations and services that exceeds expectations

Communicate with staff and members alike to follow through on inquiries and requests pertaining to retail orders and golf operations

Provide expertise and product knowledge to increase shop sales, while utilizing the POS software

Coordinate order of play and daily golf course events with the Starter and fellow professionals

Monitor pace of play in accordance to LACC standards

Assist fellow staff members in the golf operation where staffing and needs present themselves

Provide individual golf instruction to our members when time allows

Responsibilities specific to tournaments

Manage all responsibilities and task pertaining to tournament operations

Meet with Tournament Chairmen, F&B Supervisor(s), and Senior Catering Manager 3 months prior to each event to review budget and tournament details

Provide all calendars updates, communications and staff assignments regarding tournament details

Update, maintain and provide accurate write-ups and budgets for all tournaments

Facilitate the ordering of supplies and trophies needed for all tournaments to arrive at least 1-week prior to each tournament

Execute successful tournaments and club with in a club events to exceed member and guest expectations

Provide detailed summary sheets and review for each event to improve for the following year

Responsibilities specific to merchandising

Oversee receiving and purchasing of invoices for golf shop

Maintain pricing structure that aligns itself with budgeted COGS and Sales goals

Oversee the review of statements for outstanding invoices so as to avoid accounts being placed on hold

Oversee all special ordering alongside the Merchandise Buyer

Assist with all hard goods orders and the stock buying process in general

Coordinate demo and rental programs with vendors

Complete weekly inventory of demo and rental equipment

Schedule demo days and coordinate spring demo day spectacular

Assist in managing monthly inventory process and end of month inventory reporting

Provide adequate training and management of staffs merchandising of the golf shop

Responsibilities specific to Teaching & Junior Golf

Develop a yearlong Junior Golf Program through use of clinics, lesson programs, junior camps, PGA Junior League and tournaments

Work closely with Junior Golf Chairman in devising and scheduling all Junior Golf programs

Travel with PGA Junior League teams to all local/regional events

Coordinate yearlong membership clinic series and evenly delegate instructors amongst the Assistant Professional staff

Monitor and track use of teaching equipment (trackman, iPads, Boditrack) through a sign-out/sign-in list

Work with Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf to arrange monthly or bi-monthly educational opportunities for Professional Staff

Responsibilities specific to Supervising and managing

Direct a team of outside service staff to achieve a goal of seamless member services

Assist with scheduling and training of all outside operations staff to meet management expectations

Develop, enforce and maintain policies and procedures for outside operations staff

Oversee and manage opening and closing shifts to ensure the high expectations of esthetics and service are met daily

Oversee supplies and maintenance of equipment for the outside operation to ensure par levels and their life span

Compensation

Competitive within the industry and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Guaranteed $80,000 minimum 1st year income (base and overtime pay + lesson income)

Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills

Experienced in use of Microsoft Office

Good written and verbal communication skills

Strong interpersonal and sales skills

Self-motivated with desire to promote and market

Ability to communicate in high intensity work environments

High aptitude for attention to detail

Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills

Desire to grow and mature with in the golf industry

High School education required

College graduate preferred

PGA Member in good standing preferred

One (1) year previous Assistant Golf Professional experience in country clubs is preferred

Work involves lifting, pushing, pulling, loading or carrying 60lbs or more

Work involves moving/driving equipment or motorized golf carts

Work involves bending, squatting, stooping, scrubbing, pushing, pulling, stirring, reaching, lifting, sitting, and twisting

Work involves climbing or running

Work involves being outside or exposed to weather conditions over a long period of time

Work involves long periods of standing or walking

Other Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the club. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
