Recruitment began on August 19, 2025 and the job listing Expires on October 31, 2025 The Teacher of the Emotionally Impaired provides specialized educational services to secondary students with emotional impairments in a self-contained classroom setting within a center-based program. This position ensures compliance with Michigan Department of Education (MDE) requirements while delivering instruction and support that promotes academic growth, emotional regulation, and behavioral success. Qualifications: Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with endorsement in Emotionally Impaired (SE). Would consider a candidate that qualifies for an approval. Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE). Provide academic instruction aligned with Michigan K-12 Standards, adapted to meet the needs of emotionally impaired students. Integrate evidence-based behavioral interventions, including PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), trauma-informed care, and restorative practices. Create a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning and emotional growth. Conduct regular data collection and progress monitoring to inform instructional practices and behavioral supports. Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including school psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and paraprofessionals. Coordinate and oversee the assignment and daily responsibilities of classroom paraprofessionals to ensure effective instructional and behavioral support for students. Engage families and guardians in the educational process through ongoing communication and involvement in IEP planning. Participate in professional development activities as required by the ISD and the MDE. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to special education. Regular and predictable in-person attendance is required for his position. Working Conditions: (include physical demands and work environment) While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, see and hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds or more. Occasional travel may be required. Noise levels are typically moderate.
