Electrical Technician at Owens Corning. The Minneapolis Roofing Plant Electrical Technician coordinates and safely executes maintenance electrical functions to keep plant equipment and services performing at maximum levels and minimize unscheduled interruptions. This role also trains, coaches, and counsels others on electrical maintenance procedures and best practices. Strong knowledge of programmable logic controllers, electrical systems, and process control systems is required. Reports to the Plant Maintenance Leader. Nature & Scope

The Minneapolis Roofing Plant Electrical Technician coordinates and safely executes maintenance electrical functions in the facility to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime. This position trains, coaches, and counsels others on electrical maintenance procedures and best practices. Principal Duties And Responsibilities

Comply with all Lock-Tag-Try (LTT) procedures. Identify and report unsafe work conditions. Notify the Minneapolis Leadership Team of any accidents, near misses, or on-the-job injuries. Oversee shift activities, downtime, and electrical work requests and projects. Instruct craftsmen in proper electrical installation and repair techniques as appropriate. Plan electrical preventive maintenance strategies to minimize equipment downtime. Maintain all electrical shop equipment. Inspect electrical work in progress to ensure correct labor utilization and evaluate training needs. Complete training plans based on qualifying tests. Support in-house and contracted electrical installations or repairs in the facility. Maintain electrical controls software for facility programming. Install, repair, and/or replace AC/DC motors and drives, starters or relays; electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, and lighting. Keep PLC, drive, and Panelview programs current on the plant drive. Maintain documentation through all phases of development, testing, and analysis. Work from schematics, engineering drawings, and instructions; update electrical drawings as changes occur. Devise, fabricate, install, test, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment and systems in the manufacturing area. Assist engineers with technical solutions related to device and system operation and performance. Mentor, coach, and manage Maintenance apprentice employees. Proactively reinforce safety practices among craftsmen and respond to emergencies to minimize production impact. TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)

Active contributor to the PM Pillar. Collaborate with AM activity team members to achieve plant TPM goals. Maintain 5S improvements and housekeeping expectations. Perform TPM duties to support plant safety and drive zero losses, zero defects, and zero injuries. Job Requirements

Demonstrated quality and craftsmanship; hold others to this standard. Ability to work independently or in a team with minimal supervision. Strong commitment to safety at the Minneapolis facility. Mechanical, electrical, and controls aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills. Foundation in Reliable Work Practices; SAP interface knowledge preferred. Minimum Qualifications

Leadership experience in professional, service, or social organizations. Willingness and flexibility to relocate. Ability to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift as directed by Maintenance Leader. Manufacturing Maintenance experience or completion of an Advanced Manufacturing program from an accredited school; manufacturing or process-related experience preferred. Education & Experience

High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred. Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Maintenance team with relevant experience; preferably as an Electrical or Multi-Trade Technician. Manufacturing or process-related experience. Essential Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs routinely; up to 80 lbs with assistance. Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces. Work up to 12 hours in extreme hot/cold manufacturing environments. Walk/stand on concrete for 8–12 hours; climb stairs and ladders as required. Use PPE and housekeeping tools as necessary; overtime may be required. About Owens Corning
