The purpose of the Banquet Supervisor is to set, maintain, clean, and refresh all meeting and special event spaces within the Central Park Boathouse. The supervisor will oversee the setup and operations of the team. In addition, this position will be responsible for organizing all storage areas and maintaining end-of-month inventory reports for banquet equipment and supplies. RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with Banquet Manager and Housemen to set up private function areas with appropriate equipment and materials including tables, chairs, linens, and any other items requested. Pay close attention to detail to properly set event spaces according to management standards and floor plans. Know banquet stations setup and equipment required as per SOPs. Oversee the teardown of event spaces with housemen and Banquet Manager, including stripping rooms of furniture and resetting the room per specifications outlined on the banquet event order. Inspect banquet equipment for defects, cleanliness, and any required maintenance. Monitor event spaces for cleanliness and F&B replenishment needs, including changing soiled linens and straightening chairs and setting up F&B for stations. Follow safety guidelines during movement and storage of equipment. Keep service corridors, pre-function space, and storage areas clean, organized, and unobstructed. Maintain and assist Banquet Manager with updates on monthly inventory reports for all banquet equipment and supplies. Support team during special events, including monitoring food service and beverage service (water drops, coffee service, ice deliveries); ensure tables and spaces are clean and free of garbage and dirty wares. Assist during special event operations as assigned, including supporting wait staff and operations to meet high customer-service standards. Maintain and organize banquet storage areas and create signage and labels for specific food stations based on BEOS. Keep assigned work area clean. Supervise, train, and motivate banquet operations staff. Support Banquet Manager with post-event feedback for the Event Recap. Assistance in overseeing/operating Coat Check if needed. Pull liquor request sheets and return unused product to the shelf. Assist with buffet layout and dry-setting. Duties performed in indoor and outdoor settings with events in all four seasons; expect variable noise levels. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of two (2) years of banquet setup experience in a large/high-volume venue. High School Diploma or GED. Familiarity with wine service and liquor brands preferred. Able to lift 50 lbs, and to bend, stretch, push, and pull with support equipment. Ability to work non-traditional shifts including extended hours and a flexible schedule (early mornings, weekends, days, nights, and holidays). Ability to stand/walk throughout shift. Ability to work well under pressure and remain flexible during last-minute additions or changes. Good verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; ability to learn applicable databases and systems. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus. Comply with all safety policies and procedures; report unsafe conditions and complete company-wide safety training and job-specific safety training. Report safety incidents (injuries and illnesses) into the company’s risk management system (Origami Risk) on the same day the incident is reported. COMPENSATION
