Responsibilities
Manages all location maintenance operations and provides shop staff oversight.
Directly supervises shop staff and provides maintenance operational visibility to the Location Manager.
Assumes primary responsibility for managing efficient maintenance performance of the location and ensuring safe working condition of the fleet.
Schedules, administers fleet maintenance, troubleshoots equipment problems, and communicates vehicle availability with dispatch and other operations personnel.
Handles hiring, firing, salary increases, training, employee development, performance reviews, and employee complaints.
Provides status of maintenance and budget requirements to the location manager and region maintenance management.
Reviews repair orders, subcontracts repair work, orders fuel, and orders parts.
Initiates and implements projects that improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
Ensures all maintenance technicians are trained on current operating procedures, properly equipped, and motivated to accomplish the maintenance program safely, timely, and cost‑effective.
Supervises bus fueling and arranges services for building and ground keeping.
Completes special projects as assigned and performs hands‑on work activities.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Technical training preferred.
CDL Operator's license with required endorsements.
5+ years of hands‑on mechanical supervisory experience.
Physical capability to lift between 20 and 50 lbs.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Computer skills.
Experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines and school bus equipment preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must work in a crouched position or on back lying on a mechanic's dolly beneath motor vehicle equipment.
Exposure to dust, dirt, and grease conditions.
Compensation $95,000 - $100,000 per year.
