Support the day-to-day management of EHS programs at the site (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Respiratory Protection, Incident Investigation, Contractor Safety, Personal Protective Equipment, etc.). Drive continuous improvement of the EHS program by spending time on the floor and developing strong relationships with employees at all levels. Provide oversight of the facility's hazardous waste management program, including handling, storage, inspections, and shipping. This oversight includes:
Provide information, develop guidelines and write procedures for site personnel as necessary to assure compliance with regulations and corporate policy. Provide/arrange annual RCRA training. Classify wastes as "Hazardous" or "Non-hazardous". Determine proper storage, shipping and disposal procedures for the waste once classified. Assist the generator in the selection of proper DOT-approved containers to be used in shipment. Maintain waste profiles and a database of waste generation and shipments from the facility. Maintain Waste Drum Inspection Forms for a minimum of 3 years. Perform/coordinate audits and inspections.
Coordinate and maintain environmental regulatory permits and programs including inspections and submittals for air, water & waste. Track and report sustainability initiatives. Conduct EHS audits and assist with corrective measures to ensure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate requirements. Serve as liaison for external agency officials, community members, vendors and other contacts on EH&S matters that affect business interest. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Experience
The incumbent must have a B.S. or advanced degree in occupational safety and health, environmental, or related subject, and have 2-5 industrial experience. Skills & Abilities
Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, multi-task, follow through, and meet deadlines. Requires strong computer skills, including familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications. Regulatory and Training
Broad based knowledge of Environmental, Occupational Health, and Safety regulations. Working Conditions
