The
Junior Camp Counselor
is responsible for assisting in the supervision and leadership of campers in a resident camp setting. This role focuses on creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment that promotes personal growth and development. Junior Counselors play a key part in guiding campers through daily activities, ensuring their well-being, and fostering positive relationships with campers, staff, and caregivers. Key responsibilities include: Supervising and engaging campers in daily activities, including meals, recreation, and evening programs. Building strong, positive relationships with campers and fostering a supportive environment. Enforcing safety regulations and health procedures while responding to campers' needs. Teaching and assisting with camp programs, including waterfront activities and skill-based coaching sessions. Participating in camp-wide events, staff meetings, and leadership training sessions. Living on-site and assisting with cabin responsibilities, ensuring campers' well-being throughout their stay. Must be at least
17 years old
and a
high school junior or equivalent . A minimum of
4 weeks of experience
as a junior counselor, in a structured camp setting, or in a supervisory role with children. Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and instruct youth. Willingness to
live on-site
for the camp duration and work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Certifications required:
CPR/AED, First Aid, and O2 Administration
(or willingness to obtain prior to employment). Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively respond to emergencies.
