The Bellingham Mountaineers has coordinated with the King County Sexual Assault Resource Center to offer an active bystander training on prevention and disruption of sexual assault and sexual harassment in the climbing community. Who : volunteers, instructors, trip leaders, climb leaders When : Tuesday, February 11, 2025, from 6-8pm Where : YMCA 4th Floor Conference Room * Please plan to arrive ~10min. early and bring a photo ID in order to sign in at the YMCA front desk. Thanks! The goals of this training are to: Understand violence and harassment and why it matters for outdoor activities Recognize bias and escalation of behavior Respond with active bystander techniques Minimize violence and harassment by promoting leadership qualities Presenters: Emily Gassert, LMHC, Clinical Therapist for King County Sexual Assault Resource Center Dana Ringler, Co-Chair of Bellingham Code of Conduct Committee, Trained DV/SA Advocate This seminar meets the "Outdoor Leadership" prerequisite for select leader badges.
