Overview
The Technical Sales Representative reports directly to the Sales Manager and is responsible for performing all aspects of pre-sales support and training within the Measutronics Distribution Territory. This position can be located anywhere within our distribution territory in the Southeast. The Technical Sales Representative is a primary member of the consultative sales team. Customer satisfaction is the key component of this position’s success. A technical sales representative combines technical knowledge with sales skills. The emphasis of the work varies depending on the level of technical knowledge needed to sell products and services and respond effectively to clients’ queries.
Responsibilities
Primary source of pre-sales support and training for the Measutronics Marine Construction vertical
Prepare and provide technical sales demonstrations as requested
Support marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events
Manage and interpret customer requirements - speaking with clients to understand, anticipate and meet their needs
Assist clients in understanding which products or services best satisfies their needs in terms of functionality, quality, price and delivery
Work closely with Measutronics team to deliver the right solution to clients
Prepare accurate client quotations in a timely manner
Negotiate solutions and contract terms to meet both client and company needs
Travel to visit potential clients as directed
Provide accurate monthly sales forecasts and regularly meet sales targets
Record and maintain client contact data and interaction
Assist in coordination of sales projects
Provide clear communication with other members of the sales team and technical support to solve client problems
Maintain strong customer relations and satisfaction; proactively and diligently work to ensure customer problems are resolved quickly
Dedicated to improving sales results
Proactively drive collection of information that aids in the development and improvement of products and services offerings
Monitor trends and procedures to assist in the effective management of daily operations
Qualifications
Direct industry experience in construction and machine control technology
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Proven ability to achieve sales results
Able to set priorities appropriate for short and long-term objectives
Possesses integrity and good character
Maintains sense of urgency, appropriate impatience
Willingness to give personal commitment to, and make personal sacrifices for, the job
Ability to modify behavior/approach in different situations
Willingness to learn from and listen to others
Ability to make strategic decisions
Strong motivational, innovative, and interpersonal skills
Analytical expertise in understanding complex issues and their consequences
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related experience
Extensive survey and construction experience in the Marine Construction, Civil Construction, and commercial site development areas
Experience in advanced grading, 3D modeling, CAD and computers- AutoCAD, Micro station or Terramodel
Experience selling Machine Control systems a plus (Topcon, Leica, Trimble)
Machine Control training experience a plus
Local Requirements
Strong command of written and verbal English
Bi-lingual English and Spanish a plus
