Now hiring for a Temporary ASL Staff Interpreter for our Deaf Services Program! (Part-Time 24 - 30 hours/week for six (6) months)
Aspire Indiana Health is a nonprofit provider of comprehensive “whole health” services including primary medical care, behavioral health, recovery services and programs addressing the social drivers of health such as housing and employment. Aspire has health centers in four Central Indiana counties serving Hoosiers of all ages and walks of life.
Position Summary As an ASL Staff Interpreter you will interpret for deaf, deaf-blind and hard of hearing clients, families and staff in clinical or administrative settings, and to hearing individuals when they are communicating with deaf or hard of hearing clients. The ASL Staff Interpreter will also be responsible for coordinating schedules of interpreting staff, scheduling with agencies for freelance interpreters if needed, providing instruction in the use of adaptive equipment, and any other duties assigned.
Education And Experience
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field required
Must be fluent in ASL and able to effectively communicate with hearing individuals, deaf, deaf-blind, and/or hard of hearing individuals
Must have a strong understanding of deaf culture and resources related to deafness and interpreter standards
Must adhere to the RID’s Code of Professional Conduct (CPC)
Must be able to use appropriate industry terminology, and have excellent listening, retention and presentation skills
Understanding of the behavioral health, healthcare and community work, is a plus
Certification
RID highly preferred but can accept EIPA 3.0, EIPA 3.5+, BEI Basic or Advanced or NID
Other Requirements

Strong ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle highly confidential information with professionalism
Ability to be flexible and work some early evenings during the Monday - Friday period
Must have reliable transportation to travel between multiple locations to interpret and attend trainings and/or meetings
Must maintain a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance and a driving record that meets the guidelines and requirements of the organization
