The role Sofar Sounds NYC is looking for a
Freelance Commission-Based Sales Consultant
to help grow our presence in the local market by selling:
Sponsorship Opportunities
for local and national brands seeking exposure through Sofar NYC shows and experiences
Custom Brand Activations
that create real-world moments resonating with Sofar’s creative, music-loving audience—both in-person and online
Private Shows
for individuals and organizations hosting Sofar experiences in NYC (corporate offsites, holiday parties, birthdays, product launches, openings, weddings)
This is a
high-impact, commission-only freelance role
— ideal for someone with hustle, a strong network, and a passion for connecting brands to music, culture, and live experiences.
This is a
6-month fixed-term contract . Our Sales Consultants are freelancers who earn commission-based pay. This role includes monthly targets aligned with commission incentives.
What you'll do
Prospect and pitch private clients, event planners, and corporate partners for unique live music experiences
Identify and engage local businesses and brands interested in sponsoring Sofar NYC shows
Negotiate deal terms and close high-value opportunities
Collaborate with the Sofar NYC operations and booking team to ensure smooth event execution and deliver on client expectations
Maintain accurate records of outreach, leads, and conversion
Who you are
Proven experience in business development, sponsorship sales, or partnership marketing — especially in live events, culture, or media
Motivated by commission-based work with drive to chase opportunities and close deals
Clear communicator, natural connector, and able to deliver value
Knowledge of NYC’s diverse business and cultural landscape—from music, events, and hospitality to corporate and brand sectors
Loves music, community, and helping brands tap into NYC’s creative ecosystem
Existing network of relevant contacts
Familiar with prospecting and CRM tools
Note: This is a commission-only role where 10-20% gross revenue commission is paid. Earnings depend on the sponsorships and deals you bring in.
