Minimum Qualifications:

One of the following:
Associate’s degree or higher
60 semester hours of coursework
High School Diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS Parapro
High School Diploma or GED and scores of 4 on Applied Mathematics and Reading for Information on ACT Workkeys
Summary:
Full-time position (35 hours/week). Assist students with activities to maximize participation and achieve IEP objectives. Responsibilities include:
Implement instructional plans as determined by licensed teachers and therapists.
Apply and modify lessons as needed.
Provide physical care: diapering, toileting, feeding, hygiene, and mobility support.
Observe, document, and reinforce student behaviors; communicate with team.
Participate in weekly team meetings and training.
Assist with non-instructional activities.
Escort students to and from buses or cars as needed.
Record progress towards IEP goals.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively, perform basic arithmetic, use computers, work with diverse individuals, maintain confidentiality, establish supportive relationships, stay calm under stress, and work independently.
Physical Abilities:
Ability to lift students, see, speak, hear, sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, bend, twist, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications:
Valid Educator License with Stipulations (PARA), Substitute License, or Professional Educator License. Experience with special education students preferred. Documentation must be submitted to the DuPage Regional Office of Education.
