About The Role
The primary purpose of the Multi-Competent Imaging Technologist position is to provide radiology services, including x-ray energy, magnetic resonance, and computer processing techniques for inpatients and outpatients of University Hospital. Performs radiographic procedures to demonstrate vascular structures for interpretation and/or therapeutic intervention by, or at the request of, a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment and maintains a demeanor that supports the values and mission of University Hospital. Contributes as a cohesive member of the department, ensuring professional interactions with patients, physicians, nurses, administrators, and other hospital staff in accordance with established guidelines. Performs procedures in compliance with NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) standards and the principles of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable).
Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
Explains the exam to the patient according to age-specific needs to gain cooperation, minimize anxiety and optimize results.
Positions, immobilizes, and images patients according to approved departmental protocols and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomical area of interest, respecting patient ability.
Determines proper radiographic technique exposure factors.
Verifies informed consent where required.
Scans and accesses patient records via RIS and PACS.
Accesses images for review on the CT, MRI, and Interventional Suite consoles as well as from PACS.
Corroborates patients clinical history with the procedure ensuring information is documented.
Prepares patient for procedures; provides instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
Independently operates and cares for equipment and associated instruments to achieve desired results, including administration of contrast agents and patient monitoring.
Selects appropriate program respecting established protocols and factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
Must possess a current NJ Department of Environmental Protection Diagnostic Radiography license and current ARRT certification or be ARRT eligible.
If ARRT eligible, must attain certification within one (1) year of employment and maintain throughout employment.
Two (2) years of experience in Diagnostic Radiology required.
Computer literacy.
Maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR.
Pass a medical evaluation and a respirator fit test; wear an N95 respirator as a condition of employment per PEOSHA standards. Annual respirator fit testing required.
Must be certified in the service to which applying MRI; CT; Angiography.

The expected salary range for this position is TT/2800: Probationary Rate $38.13 - Job Rate $38.63 - Two (2) Year Rate $39.79 per hour, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
