Job Title: Dietary Cook – Assisted Living Reports to:

Director of Dining Services

About the Role: We are looking for a dedicated Cook to join our Assisted Living community. In this role, you will prepare and serve meals according to a set menu cycle, ensuring food safety, quality, and excellent service for our residents. You will work closely with the Director of Dining Services to maintain high standards in food preparation, serving, and kitchen cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities: Prepare, season, cook, and serve meals according to the menu and portion control guidelines.

Coordinate food preparation and meal service schedules to meet resident needs.

Monitor food temperatures to ensure safety and quality during preparation and serving.

Prepare nutritious snacks as directed.

Inspect food deliveries and supervise the storage of supplies.

Report food, supply, or equipment needs and any safety concerns to the Director.

Assist and supervise dietary staff when needed.

Clean kitchen equipment and work areas thoroughly.

Follow all safety and sanitation regulations, including fire and emergency procedures.

Participate in training and in-service educational programs.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience in quantity cooking and knowledge of therapeutic diets is a plus.

At least 1 year of food service experience in a healthcare or dietary setting preferred.

Basic math skills for recipe measurements and record-keeping.

Strong communication skills to work effectively with residents, staff, and families.

Ability to read and follow recipes, diet orders, and work assignments accurately.

Patient, tolerant, and adaptable, especially during emergencies.

Willingness to work flexible hours when necessary.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50-75 pounds.

Capable of bending, reaching, stooping, and handling kitchen tools and equipment.

Good sensory skills (taste, smell, vision) to assess food quality.

Comfortable working in varying temperatures, including refrigerators and near ovens.
