Professor- Population Health (Implementation Science) - Population Health Department: SOM Department of Population Health Population Health Faculty Position Title: Professor- Population Health (Implementation Science) - Population Health Job Family Group: Academic Job Description Summary: We welcome applications from individuals from a broad range of disciplines to join us in advancing implementation science to achieve health equity. The Department of Population Health was recently awarded an $11M Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) in Implementation Science for Health Equity (ISEC) with the goal of strengthening institutional, state, and national capacity in implementation and dissemination research. ISEC provides core services, pilot project grants, protected research time, and mentorship. ISEC\'s mission is to eliminate health disparities across the life course through implementation science. We seek a late Associate or full Professor to join the ISEC leadership. Successful candidates will be engaged in research on promoting health equity in any area of health or healthcare with an emphasis on implementing evidence-based interventions in relevant clinical or community settings. This is a 12-mos. tenure-track position and opportunities exist for joint appointments in other departments in the Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Health Professions at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) campus in Kansas City as well as academic units of the University of Kansas main campus in Lawrence. The Department of Population Health is located in the School of Medicine and provides a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment with a shared goal of remediating health disparities across Kansas and beyond. Our faculty have partnerships with state and regional health authorities and collaborations with community and clinical partners in urban and rural locations, supporting impactful implementation science and community-engaged research. The Department has three campuses - Kansas City, Wichita, Salina - and offers graduate education leading to the MHSA, MPH, MSCR, and PhD. In addition to ISEC, collaborating centers and institutional partners include: The University of Kansas Cancer Center; The NIA-funded Alzheimer\'s Disease Research Center; The Kansas Center for Rural Health; NCATS-funded Frontiers Clinical & Translational Institute; The University of Kansas Health System (TUKHS). Job Description: Job Duties Outlined: Lead, collaborate on, or participate in ISEC research, training, and service activities appropriate to rank. Maintain an ongoing program of research and training, with external funding, appropriate to rank and expertise. Direct or contribute to graduate courses and curriculum development. Participate in the intellectual life of the Department and School of Medicine, via faculty committees and activities. Provide other services to the school, university, profession, and community, as appropriate. Required Qualifications Education : Doctorate in a health-related field (e.g., nursing, medicine or public health; health-related behavioral or social sciences). This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community. Work Experience : Experience in recording implementation science-focused scholarship in peer-reviewed publications, appropriate for ranking. Experience in funding for implementation science-focused research via participation in recent grants and/or contracts, appropriate to rank. Experience supervising and mentoring junior faculty, postdoctoral trainees and/or doctoral students. Preferred Qualifications Work Experience : Experience in active principal Investigator R01-level funding of implementation science-focused projects. Experience in team science, quality improvement, knowledge translation, and/or translational science. Experience teaching and/or designing courses relevant to implementation science.
