Senior Acquisition Engineer
Clearance Required:
Secret Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking a Senior Acquisition Engineer to support SAF/AQR (The Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics)). The candidate must have relevant acquisition systems engineering experience in a System Program Office and/or HAF.
Position Overview: The
Senior Acquisition Engineer
will provide essential engineering support for the maturation of technologies and programs within the
AQR portfolio . This includes conducting engineering assessments, analyzing weapon systems, and offering recommendations to guide decision-making for Air Force acquisition programs. A strong background in systems engineering, program management, and the DoD PPBE process and POM is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Analysis and Engineering Assessments:
Study, analyze, and recommend on requirements, acquisition strategies, program documentation, and execution.
Conduct impartial assessments of programs approaching milestone decisions and evaluate technical and operational issues of prime Contractors.
Perform technical studies on weapon systems, integration, and capabilities.
Analyze weapon systems architecture, identify issues, and recommend solutions.
Assess design alternatives to meet capabilities.
Research and Program Support:
Support the preparation of programmatic documentation and responses to inquiries from Congressional, DoD, and Air Force entities.
Identify operational deficiencies, develop alternatives, and provide actionable recommendations.
Perform trade-off studies on weapon systems, technology, and costs.
Review technical, operational, and management documents and specifications.
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Policy:
Provide expertise on MBSE implementation and policy, ensuring compliance with standards.
Assess policy requirements and procedures for acquisition engineering.
Evaluate operating system end-of-life support strategies.
Technology Transition and S&T Integration:
Assess activities including mission engineering, prototyping, and experimentation.
Identify technology gaps and align with S&T efforts.
Advise on leveraging S&T for future capabilities.
Communication and Collaboration:
Communicate technical ideas clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align efforts.
Handle classified information with discretion.
Administrative and IT Proficiency:
Proficiency in office IT tools and quick adaptation to DAF software.
Performance Metrics:
Timely delivery of assessments.
Quality of recommendations.
Stakeholder satisfaction.
Compliance with policies.
Effective communication.
Qualifications: Education:
Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field, or 12 years of relevant experience as a substitute.
Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years of relevant experience can substitute for a Master’s degree.
Experience:
10+ years in systems engineering within a SPO and/or HAF.
10+ years in the Air Force or DoD PPBE process with programs of record.
Expertise in weapon systems analysis, technical assessments, and MBSE.
Desired Skills:
Familiarity with MBSE tools (e.g., DOORs, CAMEO).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
