Clinical Nurse

As a Clinical Nurse at Valleywise Health, you’ll be part of a collaborative, patient-centered care team committed to improving lives in a diverse, dynamic healthcare environment. Under the guidance of a Nurse Manager or Executive DON (Ambulatory), you’ll provide age-specific, professional nursing care tailored to each patient’s needs—working closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
You’ll demonstrate the professional skills and compassionate behaviors that support safe, cost-effective, and meaningful healthcare—making an impact across a wide spectrum of patient experiences.
Hourly POOL Pay Rate: $46.00
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient care including assessment, medication administration, and care planning.
Identify and respond to patient needs and nursing problems with sound clinical judgment.
Deliver or delegate care in alignment with Valleywise Health policies and procedures.
Serve as a patient advocate and health educator, supporting both patients and families.
Document care accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance and continuity of care.
Support and guide ancillary personnel as needed.
Contribute to team-building initiatives and engage in quality improvement efforts that elevate care delivery.
Qualifications Education :
Prefer a Bachelor\'s Degree or higher in Nursing.
Experience :
Must successfully complete the Valleywise Health New Graduate RN training program or have prior acute nursing experience that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Previous acute care hospital experience in the area for which he or she is applying for is preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
Must possess a current, valid AZ RN license, temporary AZ RN license, or valid compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
Must be in good standing with the issuing Board of Nursing.
Requires a BLS card obtained through an American Heart Association (AHA) training center upon hire.
In addition, certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice:
Ambulatory/Specialty Clinics: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within ninety (90) days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
Angio Suite: Must obtain ACLS and PALS within six (6) months of hire or transfer.
Antepartum Testing Center: Must have an Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification upon hire or transfer. Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within ninety (90) days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
Behavioral Health: Must have a CPI certification and BLS training will be provided upon hire or transfer to Behavioral Health Departments.
BH Unit 2 Adolescent: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within ninety (90) days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
Burn Med Surg Adult: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer. Must obtain PALS within six (6) months. Must obtain ABLS within one (1) year.
Burn Med Surg Peds: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer. Must obtain PALS within six (6) months. Must obtain ABLS within one (1) year.
Burn Center ICU: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer. Must obtain PALS within six (6) months. Must obtain ABLS within one (1) year.
Burn Unit Emergency: Must have ACLS and PALS upon hire or transfer. Must obtain ABLS within one (1) year.
Burn Clinic: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer. Must obtain PALS within six (6) months. Must obtain ABLS within one (1) year.
Cath Lab: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer.
Critical Care: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer. Must obtain NIHSS certification within six (6) months of hire or transfer. Must obtain TNCC, ATCN, or TCAR within twelve (12) months of hire or transfer. CCRN preferred.
Dialysis: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within ninety (90) days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
ED-Roosevelt: Must have ACLS and PALS upon hire or transfer. Must obtain ATCN or TNCC within twelve (12) months and ENPC within twelve (12) months. NIHSS certification within six (6) months. CEN/PCEN/TCRN preferred.
ED-Maryvale: Must have ACLS and PALS upon hire or transfer. NIHSS certification within six (6) months. CEN or CPEN preferred.
ENDO: Must obtain ACLS and PALS within six (6) months. SGNA certification preferred.
FQHC Primary Care: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card or submit Affidavit; must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date and present card within ninety (90) days.
L&D: Must have ACLS and NRP upon hire or within three (3) months. If less than 2 years of RN L&D experience, complete AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring within six (6) months and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring within 2 years; greater than 2 years requires AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring upon hire. Maintenance every two years.
IRP: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer. Additional certifications may be required.
McDowell Clinic: HIV certification within thirty (30) months. Must have valid fingerprint clearance card; complete fingerprint clearance card process within seven (7) days; card within ninety (90) days.
Medical Oncology Ortho: ACLS upon hire or transfer. ONS Chemo/Biotherapy certification within twelve (12) months.
NICU: NRP upon hire or within three (3) months for new grads/new to service.
Nursing Float Pool: ACLS upon hire or transfer. Additional certifications may be required.
Observation-Roosevelt: ACLS upon hire or transfer.
Oncology Clinic: Chemo certification within six (6) months.
OR (other than Peoria): CNOR preferred.
OR (Peoria): fingerprint clearance card required; process within seven (7) days; card within ninety (90) days.
PreOp/PACU (Other than Peoria): ACLS and PALS within six (6) months; ATCN or TNCC within twelve (12) months.
PreOp/PACU (Peoria): ACLS and PALS within six (6) months; fingerprint clearance card process within seven (7) days; card within ninety (90) days.
PICU: PALS and NRP upon hire or transfer; ATCN/TNCC/PCAR within twelve (12) months; PCAR preferred.
Peds Acute: PALS and NRP upon hire or transfer within three (3) months for new grads/new to service.
Post Partum: NRP upon hire or transfer within three (3) months for new grads/new to service.
Surgical Trauma: ACLS upon hire or transfer.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to work with culturally diverse people is a must.
Bilingual is preferred.
Must have excellent communication, time management and customer service skills.
Requires basic computer word processing skills (e.g. formatting, editing, printing, composing email, internet searches, etc.) to navigate through an electronic medical record using a computer.
Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
