Yellowstone Schools is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to ensure the safety, functionality, and efficiency of our school’s facilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and overseeing repairs to create a safe and conducive learning environment for students and staff. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in maintenance-related fields preferred. Proven experience as a maintenance engineer, facility technician, or a similar role. Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff and administration. Physical ability to lift, climb, and work in various conditions. Must pass background checks and meet school safety requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to minimize disruption to school operations. Ensure all building systems comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Maintain records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and repairs. Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and maintenance projects. Assist with setting up and breaking down school events as needed. Monitor and manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment. Perform seasonal maintenance tasks, including snow removal and landscaping assistance. Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions for facility improvements. Work Environment & Physical Demands This position will include early morning, evening and weekend commitments as required and assigned. This position requires participation in training and other learning activities as required and assigned. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Compensation and Benefits Base salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
