Overview

At SERES, we’re forging a new kind of mobility company by combining the DNA of advanced automotive engineering and design with state of the art smart technologies and connectivity to revolutionize the future of premium electric vehicles. From our corporate headquarters in Silicon Valley we’re bringing the best and brightest together with a common goal of creating the next generation of smart, clean, connected vehicles for you. Our vision is to deliver premium electric vehicles that enhance the daily lives of our users, allowing them to live more connected, productive lives through the integration of clean technology and advanced hardware and software. The future of mobility is more than getting from A to B; it’s about keeping connected and providing users customizable features when they want it. Responsibilities

Develop and validate advanced motor control algorithms and control strategy for electro-mechanical systems both in the laboratory and at the vehicle level. Develop state-feedback field-oriented controls (FOC) and robust state observers. Optimize machine mechanical (position/speed) sensor configuration and design an advanced speed controller to attenuate system mechanical torque oscillation induced in vehicle dynamics. Perform parameter calibration using back-to-back motor dyno and full-scale drivetrain dyno. Conduct vehicle-level testing to ensure smooth communication between the VCU (vehicle control unit), electric motor, and internal combustion engine. Post-process experimental data using LabVIEW/Matlab for control algorithm development. Define specifications of hardware components including torque transducers, power analyzers, temperature sensors, and position/voltage/current sensors. Design and implement motor control algorithm development with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) simulations. Required Education and Experience

MS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with at least 6 months of motor control experience; or PhD degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Experience with engineering tools such as Vector PREEvision or similar to design networks/communications and understand wiring schematics. Experience with failure analysis methodologies (FMEA, fault trees). Experience with standard EE lab instruments (oscilloscopes, multimeters, data bus analysis tools). Motivation to integrate complex systems and hands-on experience with electric vehicle systems and integration testing. Demonstrated creativity in design and a drive to make a difference in the automotive industry. Ability to work with hands-on hardware and prototyping. This is a full-time position and requires on-site work in Milpitas, CA. Equal Employment Opportunity
