Overview
ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (GXP 2025-22111) Bowhead seeks an entry-level Electrical Engineer to join our team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane, IN. The Electrical Engineer will provide technical and engineering support services to the Strategic Systems Guidance, Navigation and Control Division. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, facilities instruments, components, and systems for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use. This dynamic individual will lead the execution of complex tasks, applying and integrating engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate military weapons systems. Responsibilities
Essential functions will include: Providing technical and engineering support for strategic fire control and navigation systems design, design review, performance and safety testing, test reporting, requirements development, and safety assessment. Providing technical support for updates or additions to Standard Operating Procedures, Test Plans, and Customer Reports. Assisting the Government with failure investigations and root cause analysis on failed or suspect systems or components during manufacturing, test, evaluation, and qualification. Providing technical input and recommendations as required via letter, e-mail, and trip reports. A trip report shall be provided for any trip conducted in support of this task. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline. Must have zero (0) to two (2) years of technical experience. Engineering discipline or STEM degree can vary if the candidate demonstrates prior work experience or specialized knowledge meeting the expected position criteria. Experience with embedded computing (FPGA Hardware description language, digital logic experience, programming in C, Python, LabVIEW, Visual Basic, interfacing with hardware such as USB and serial, and high reliability systems in Strategic Fire Control and Navigation). Experience in design, verifications, and testing (DoD/DHS preferred). Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts. Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team. Physical Demands
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time. Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically. Security Clearance Requirements
Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level. Applicants who currently hold a Secret clearance are strongly encouraged to apply. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
