Metrology Engineer (GXP 2025-24007)
Bowhead seeks a Metrology Engineer to join our team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane, IN. The Metrology Engineer will provide technical and engineering support services to the Strategic Systems Guidance, Navigation and Control Division.
Responsibilities
Perform duties with minimal supervision and management intervention
Review specifications for test, measurement and diagnostics equipment
Identify TMDE measurements, calculate test accuracy ratios, provide a Calibration Measurement Report to document technical requirements and analysis
Conduct research on TMDE, identify obsolete TMDE and provide recommendations to replace obsolete TMDE
Determine whether TMDE is supported by the Navy Metrology and Calibration Program; coordinate and communicate with NSWC Crane, NSWC Corona and customers on workload assigned
Create data records to support technical analysis/reviews
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering with five (5) to eight (8+) years of experience; additional experience may be substituted for formal education for highly qualified candidates.
Desired candidate should have substantial experience in metrology science and calibration.
Have sufficient hardware experience to identify and solve hardware problems associated with design, development, and integration of high reliability systems.
Some software experience is preferred.
Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
Security Clearance Requirements Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level. Applicants who currently hold a Secret clearance are strongly encouraged to apply. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
