Field Service Technician - Do you have a high aptitude for mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, problem solving and customer service? Would you be interested in taking advantage of our expert training program where you will get to travel abroad in order to learn the newest intelligence on OEM? Would you like to provide the best possible support to keep our customers in the lead? This role could be perfect for you. Location: Home based field services role/ candidates with the ability to work out of a home office (travel required). OEM will support relocation costs for the right candidate (must have injection molding/ plastics engineering experience to be eligible). Responsibilities
Perform all activities required to provide technical and mechanical support to external/internal customers; set up, maintain, troubleshoot, optimize and repair injection molding systems. Act as a leader & mentor on your team and in customer facilities. Develop and maintain superior customer relations; coordinate and liaise with internal resources to ensure effective customer service, and provide telephone support to customer maintenance staff. Troubleshoot and correct control systems; calibrate machines to achieve optimum performance, set up and maintain machines. Order replacement parts; troubleshoot and diagnose problems with any control system; develop an organized approach to solving machine problems; repair/replace parts as required. Provide regular and effective written reports. Dress professionally and be on time for appointments; turn in documentation as required. Instruct service technicians and/or customer operators on the maintenance and safe operation of injection molding systems. Provide telephone support to customer maintenance staff or customer operators. Provide guidance and/or on-the-job training to junior Service Technicians. Communicate with Central Service/Manufacturing/Parts Center to obtain answers to problems encountered in the field. Provide regular and effective written reports to the Service Manager. Troubleshoot and correct control systems including hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and electronic systems and programmable controls. Adjust process variables to produce parts of acceptable quality; calibrate/fine tune machines to achieve optimum performance. Order replacement parts from our Parts Center; troubleshoot and diagnose problems with any of the control systems. Develop an organized approach to solving machine problems using manuals, drawings, procedures, and other references. Repair and/or replace components on machines, robots, product handling equipment and molds as required. Arrange for the return of parts to Jeffersonville. Requirements
College degree in plastics engineering preferred. Certification in Electrical/Mechanical Technology or equivalent experience. Experience in troubleshooting complex machinery preferred. Experience in hydraulics is an asset, but not required as training is available. Ability to troubleshoot problems systematically. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong customer service orientation. Tact and diplomacy; ability to handle difficult/unhappy customers.
