RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently oversees critical engineering commodity investment, such as equipment and capital spend, as the primary supplier relationship owner with deep category expertise.
Interfaces with a broad stakeholder team (>140 engineers) to drive alignment to business decisions. Takes long term strategic view for future needs, contract and price negotiations, N+1 Supplier coverage, and drives productivity. Balances cost, quality, and service, supported by diverse supplier expansion and sustainability.
Develops procurement strategies for the engineering commodity spend, aligns with cross functional leadership and develops strong contracts that protects Hormel's interest, maintains contract updates, oversee equipment life cycle, and manages effective vendor relationships. Responsible to oversee strategy implementation with direct reports and engineering team with minimal oversight to drive cost savings and containment.
Purchase all capital equipment, capital project supplies/services and all associated corporate engineering purchases.
Negotiate and assist Corporate Engineering in all purchases for equipment, Capex, infrastructure and supplies obtaining the desired costs, terms and conditions relating to the scope of the purchase and project. Annual spend in the excess of $300MM.
Negotiate and execute the sale of all processing and operations equipment.
Facilitate and manage all quality, service and non conformances for corporate engineering.
Negotiate and manage master supply agreements for preferred engineering partners.
Negotiate supply agreements for preferred Mechanical, Electrical, CEM, Environmental and Equipment partners. Maintain agreement adherence, resolve non conformances, and settle claims. This position will also manage all engineering terms and conditions/service agreements. This includes working with all suppliers, engineering and legal.
Strategic Sourcing
This position will provide strategic spend oversight and proactively build supplier relationships for engineering.
Engineering Services
This position will assist engineering to manage all engineering service agreements across the enterprise. These service agreements include both mechanical, electrical, software, and environmental opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Broad procurement and business knowledge, as demonstrated by previous work in engineering and/or procurement.
7+ years of work experience in Procurement or Engineering, or Supply Chain, leading improvements, and leveraging change management skills.
Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to both work independently and in cross functional teams.
Demonstrated effective leadership skills with high resiliency and speed of trust.
Proven problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in technical field: Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management or a related hard science/business field.
LOCATION Global Headquarters, Austin, MN
Comprehensive relocation package to the Austin, MN area will be offered, if required.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Base pay range: $91,725 - $128,425 per year. Actual base pay within this range will depend on factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic market location.
