We have been made aware of fraudulent recruiting activity where individuals are misrepresenting themselves as Pioneer Circuits recruiters or employees. These scams may include scheduling fake interviews, offering false job opportunities, and sending checks for “office stipends” or equipment purchases. We encourage all applicants to verify openings through our official jobs listings page here: https://www.pioneercircuits.com/careers/jobs/

Since its establishment in 1981, Pioneer Circuits has been leading the way in technology solutions for mission-critical systems. As the leading, privately held U.S. manufacturer of innovative high-performance flexible circuit boards, we are dedicated to the design, production, and assembly of advanced printed circuit board assembly (PCBAs) technology solutions.

We develop cutting-edge solutions that explore new frontiers, serve and protect our armed forces and allies, safeguard national security against evolving threats, and propel advancements in hypersonic technology.

Our customers include some of the largest aerospace and defense companies like RTX, Lockheed Martin, GE Aerospace, NASA, JPL, Northrop Grumman, and Boeing.

About the Opportunity

Join a future-focused team developing intelligent automation systems for circuit board manufacturing. In this role, you’ll integrate mechanical systems, embedded controls, and data-rich automation to improve efficiency, quality, and insight into production performance. You'll also collaborate with cross-functional teams exploring AI/ML applications for defect detection and predictive maintenance, without needing to be a machine learning expert yourself.

What You’ll Do

Assist in installing, wiring, and configuring automated manufacturing systems, including PLCs, robotics, sensors, and motion components.

Perform I/O checks, system tests, and troubleshoot integration issues on production equipment.

Support deployment of vision systems and inspection tools used for PCB quality control.

Programming & Controls

Program and modify basic PLC logic (e.g., ladder, structured text) and configure HMIs.

Work with embedded controllers or industrial PCs to support automation tasks and system communication.

Help implement and validate control sequences for pick-and-place machines, conveyors, and inspection tools.

Troubleshooting & Process Support

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or software issues in integrated systems using test equipment and structured problem-solving.

Support root cause investigations and continuous improvement projects to reduce downtime and enhance automation reliability.

Data & Smart Automation Support

Collaborate with engineers and technicians to capture process data from sensors, PLCs, and inspection tools.

Support integration of dashboards or lightweight analytics tools for real-time monitoring.

Contribute to projects exploring AI/ML-assisted defect detection, providing annotated data or verifying model outputs as needed (training provided if not experienced).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with mechanical, electrical, software, process, and QA teams to support product builds and factory scale-up.

Provide documentation, wiring diagrams, and integration procedures for internal teams and vendors.

What You’ll Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, or related Engineering field.

Experience or strong interest in:

PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI programming, and basic I/O troubleshooting

Embedded systems or microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, STM32, etc.)

Reading schematics and using diagnostic tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.)

Industrial sensors, actuators, and motion systems

Exposure to or interest in:

Vision systems or automated inspection tools

Data collection from machines (e.g., via OPC UA, MQTT, or SCADA)

AI/ML concepts or manufacturing analytics (training provided)

Comfortable working hands-on with mechanical assemblies, control panels, and test setups.

Strong communication and documentation skills.

Job Type:

Full Time / Permanent

$100,000 - $135,000 USD

The actual compensation offered is based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and other relevant business considerations.
