The Assistant Director at Hillel in The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is the Executive Director’s right hand in implementing Hillel’s mission on campus through mentorship and management of Hillel’s team of Jewish professionals. The Assistant Director participates in hiring, training, and mentoring staff, and develops relationships with organizations like the University of Illinois, Hillel International, the Jewish Federation/Jewish United Fund of Chicago (JUF), and others. Reporting to the Executive Director, the role involves coordinating programs, managing staff, and fostering community engagement. Manage information flow within the organization. Collaborate on vision development for engagement, wellness, programming, and education. Train staff and develop training curricula. Support the implementation of annual goals and long-term vision. Participate in engagement and programmatic work. Mentor programming staff. On a day-to-day basis, you will:

Participate in engagement and programmatic activities. Expand Hillel’s campus and community visibility through partnerships and initiatives. Lead staff meetings and one-on-one meetings. Supervise the Israel Fellow and Interns. Oversee budgets and grant opportunities. Lead leadership development initiatives and student programs. Coordinate recruitment for Israel trips and follow-up programming. Participate in regional and national Hillel programs. What You’ve Accomplished

5+ years of relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred. Experience supervising staff and facilitating leadership development. Strong organizational and communication skills. What You’ll Bring to the Job
