At NorthBay Health, the Infection Preventionists Program Manager (IPPM) is a professional responsible for the operational management and implementation of the infection prevention program under the supervision of the Director, Quality Division. This individual works independently and collaboratively with the Medical Director of Infectious Disease Medicine. The IPPM ensures hospital activities comply with the Infection Prevention Plan and all relevant regulations from bodies such as TJC, CDPH, CMS, and hospital policies.
The IPPM participates in and coordinates all aspects of the Infection Prevention Program, including surveillance, monitoring, prevention, and education within the NorthBay Health System. They serve as the primary contact for infection prevention activities, supported by the Infection Prevention staff. The role aims to protect patients, personnel, and visitors from disease transmission, aligning with the core competencies outlined by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC). The Medical Director of Infectious Disease oversees the IPPM’s technical competencies.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field required.
Master’s degree preferred.
Working knowledge of infection prevention, epidemiology, TJC, Cal-OSHA, and evidence of APIC EPI 101 course completion.
Licensure:
California RN licensure preferred but not required with relevant education and experience.
Current AHA or equivalent certification in basic CPR required.
Current Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience, including 3 years in infection prevention or healthcare epidemiology in an acute care hospital setting.
Two years of management experience preferred.
Knowledge of healthcare practices, data management, patient care equipment, and products.
Experience with Vigilanz or similar infection prevention surveillance software.
Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Well-organized, able to set priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively.
Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.

Compensation:
$205k - $215k, based on experience in a managerial role.
