Tool/Die Repair Department:
Tool Room I. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To repair and machine molds at a high skill level to ensure that all molds operate at maximum potential. Ability to self-manage time and complete projects efficiently. Responsible for setup and operation of lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders. Correct flash by performing skilled handwork and blueing in on molds. When assigned by the toolroom supervisor responsible for interpreting drawings and evaluating machining methods on intricate machining setups. Disassemble and assemble molds, analyzes basic mold problems including flashing conditions, galling, cooling problems, venting, etc. Compute the time and materials quote as requested. Complete engineering changes and revisions to injection molds. Repair injection mold cavities and cores due to damage or wear. Stone and polish mold components of many materials to a high finish. Troubleshoot and identify tooling issues at the press as needed. Responsible for accurate completion of mold repair sheets and any other applicable paperwork. Observes all safety requirements and maintains work area in a neat and orderly condition. Responsible for working knowledge of TS16949 procedures. Performs related duties as assigned. II. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None EDUCATIONAL AND OTHER SKILL REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or G.E.D. Minimum of 3 years experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in tool repair/die field. Ability to use shop math, precision measuring instruments, and read blueprints. High-level ability to perform TIG welding on many different materials. Good verbal and written communication skills. IV. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Medium physical demand
level. Must be able to
stand and walk
for extended periods of time. Stretches out, up, and across occasionally. Squatting, kneeling, bending, or crouching
may be required when inspecting machines and molds. Twisting of the body or neck
may be required on an occasional basis. Frequent lifting
is required. Should be able to safely lift, push, or pull a maximum of fifty lbs. Loads larger than 50 lbs. should be handled by other means. Bends occasionally
over machines, conveyor belts, and when picking up supplies or products from low levels. Repetitive large hand and arm movements
may occasionally be required for some tasks. Should be able to safely operate cranes, forklifts, and other equipment necessary to perform the job. The job involves visual effort and concentration. Good hand-eye coordination. Patience. Accuracy. Ability to grip and hold hand tools. Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to engage in shift work. PPE: safety eyewear, cutting gloves when using a knife, cotton gloves when handling hot parts, and approved safety steel-toed shoes. WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. in a plastic manufacturing factory. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. There is also exposure to cleaner/degreaser, coolant, and hydraulic oil. *Due to the factory not being climate controlled, extreme heat is experienced in the summer months, and due to working near overhead doors and a large vent, occasional extreme cold is experienced in the winter months.
