What You'll Be Doing
The Patient Access Representative is responsible for performing all of the following inpatient and outpatient functions, including same-day, diagnostic outpatient, and emergency department registrations. This position includes: All pre-registration and registration functions for all areas of the hospital. Obtaining accurate patient demographics, insurance benefits, financial liability, and pre-certification information from patients, physician offices, and/or insurance companies for services to be rendered and/or in the process of being rendered at the facility either via telephone and/or face-to-face. Being the initial contact with the patient and initiating the clinical and billing record. Entering appropriate information into a computer system, which may include the assignment of bed (bed control) and abstracting. Communicating effectively to service delivery areas to maximize patient flow and customer service. Providing excellent patient-focused customer service and maintaining a complete customer service-friendly environment. Assuring the comfort and patient satisfaction of the admitting waiting area. Performing data processing and some clerical functions, typing, spreadsheet statistics, answering telephones, and ensuring patients are escorted to the next available registrar in a timely and courteous manner. What We're Looking For
Education: High School Diploma Experience: Previous billing and/or admitting preferred. Licensure/Qualifications: Knowledge of medical terminology and various insurances, data entry, computer literacy, and typing skills. Bi-lingual preferred.
