About the Hospital At Thrive Pet Healthcare - The Heights, we offer primary care services for cats and dogs in the Houston Heights area. We provide wellness exams, vaccines, spay & neuter, and end-of-life services.

Dr. Omarbek has 30 years of experience as a veterinarian and has been performing orthopedic surgery and complex surgical intervention for over 10 Years. Our goal is to make outpatient surgery accessible to more pets, while prioritizing your pet’s safety and well-being. Current surgeries he offers includes soft tissue, orthopedic, and urgent and complex surgical interventions.

About You As aLead Veterinary Technician, you will be responsible for overseeing the hospital flow and ensuring good patient care and client service. Assist in the training of new employees, assessing current employees on their skillset, and aid in growing their knowledge on an ongoing basis. They work with the leadership team to develop new protocols to assist in maintaining efficiency and time management throughout the patient’s stay. They follow through the veterinarians’ plans and orders, delegate duties to the surgery/treatment technicians, and assist in all areas of treatment. They check in patients, create and discuss treatment plans, place charges, discharge patients, and discuss home care with their owners. They assist clients with concerns and/or complaints.

Experience & Skills Requirements

2 years of continuous veterinary technician/assistant experience (direct animal/patient care required)

Has excellent people skills (Ethical, diplomatic, courteous, professional)

Has strong leadership skills (judgment, logic, creativity, conflict resolution)

Advanced knowledge and experience in anesthesia and analgesia (positive pressure ventilation, capnography, invasive blood pressure monitoring) and familiarity with a variety of surgical procedures and equipment.

Advanced knowledge and experience with dental prophylaxis and dental radiography

Possesses strong technical skills (Phlebotomy experience required)

Possesses a positive work attitude

Self-motivated

Excellent communication and organization skills

Is committed to a stress-free environment for our patients

Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment

Role Responsibilities

Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.

With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.

Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians.

Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.

Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.

Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.

Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.

Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
