The After School

Group Leader

is responsible for the overall safety, development, management, organization, and planning of their group. This includes educational projects, recreation, arts and crafts, and group activities. Major Duties: Supervise and manage the identified group of participants. Engage participants in activities and model appropriate behavior. Ensure safety at all times. Conduct outreach to ensure attendance and participation. Support activity instructors and other leaders. Develop and facilitate a thematic curriculum including arts & crafts, promoting creativity, self-expression, mastery, emotional growth, and career exploration. Integrate academic lessons when applicable. Build positive relationships with participants, colleagues, and school personnel. Attend staff meetings and trainings, including evenings and weekends. Monitor and uphold program rules and the afterschool model. Organize culminating events for participants and their families. Engage with parents and guardians professionally. Address behavior and safety concerns, completing necessary documentation. Act as a Mandated Reporter. Resolve conflicts within your group, seeking assistance when necessary. Foster a positive youth development environment emphasizing belonging, independence, mastery, safety, and community. Supervise support staff assigned to your group. Track and support participants' development and academic success. Ensure safe arrival and dismissal of participants. Inspect facilities, equipment, and supplies, ensuring they are secure. Work during holidays and OST days as needed. Maintain records, including attendance. Adhere strictly to policies and procedures. Participate in afterschool events and trips. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old. High School diploma or GED and 1 year of related experience. Experience in building camp culture and community activities preferred. Skills in arts, music, crafts, etc., a plus. Commitment to working with diverse youth and providing high-quality services. Ability to work from a strength-based, youth and family development, trauma-informed perspective.
