Varies and as needed/assigned; however primary schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM; also serves on a 24 hour on-call rotation schedule SALARY:

$69,890/year BENEFITS : Medical, dental, PERF and PTO (paid time off) JOB SUMMARY: This position reports to the Juvenile Services Center Administrative Team and serves as Lead Therapist for the Juvenile Justice System. The position is responsible for providing mental health services for the Porter County Juvenile Justice System. Primarily responsible for assessing, planning, creating, and coordinating the mental health services and needs of the juveniles and families who are involved with Porter County’s juvenile justice system. The following job duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. JOB DUTIES: Responsible for the coordination of individual sessions and/or groups/classes covering educational, cognitive, behavioral, and life skills services and programs for identified youth and/or their parents/guardians within the system (including youth on probation, youth in diversionary programming, youth in the Juvenile Detention Center, and youth in the Day Reporting program). Provides oversight and direct supervision of system mental health staff. Responsible for the development and implementation of program goals for the juveniles in detention, and other JJS youth as identified, consistent with the juvenile’s case plan, and evaluating the juvenile’s individual progress toward those goals. Collaborates with administration in developing, implementing, and evaluating various groups, classes, programs, and curriculum for both youth and staff. Aids in creation of associated policies, procedures, and practices. Provides up to date research of evidenced based practices to implement proposed changes and aids in annual review of JJS programs Provides crisis intervention and management for juveniles as needed and identified. Attends staff meetings and workshop/training seminars as requested or required by facility and/or state rules and regulations, including 80 hours of initial on the job orientation training and ongoing annual required training. REQUIREMENTS: Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work required. Ability to obtain professional licensure (i.e.: LSW, LCSW, LMHC, MFTA) within one year of hire date is required. Must be at least twenty-one years of age. Must reside in/or be willing to move to Porter County within six months of employment Experience working with groups, classes, or programs. Preferably with juveniles. Ability to work with or be exposed to potentially violent/irate individuals. Ability to pass a criminal records check, sex offender registry check, and Department of Child Services record review. Ability to serve on 24-hour call and respond swiftly, rationally, and decisively to emergency situations. Possession of a reliable car, valid driver’s license, and demonstrated safe driving record.
