Ensures customer retention and the profitability of this profit center by recruiting qualified sales personnel. Responsible for appraising, purchasing, reconditioning, displaying, and merchandising used vehicle inventory. Duties and Responsibilities: Forecasts goals and objectives for sales, gross, and key expenses on a monthly and annual basis. Hires, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all used-vehicle sales employees. Prepares and administers an annual operating forecast and budget for the used-vehicle sales department. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations affecting used-vehicle sales. Directs and schedules all department employees, ensuring proper staffing at all times. Assists salespeople in setting and achieving monthly goals, providing necessary support. Develops and monitors prospecting and sales control systems for potential buyers. Implements follow-up systems for used-vehicle purchasers. Maintains vehicle inventory, analyzes customer preferences, market trends, and sales history to determine stock. Conducts sales and training meetings regularly. Establishes product knowledge standards and enforces them. Enhances dealership image and customer satisfaction through sales efforts. Communicates with the new-vehicle sales manager regarding inventory needs. Ensures used-vehicle salespeople are informed of new inventory and advertising efforts. Appraises incoming used vehicles. Oversees reconditioning within cost and time limits. Plans and controls vehicle display and wholesaling activities. Establishes delivery procedures, including introduction to the service department and scheduling first service appointments. Assists in developing advertising campaigns and promotions. Keeps updated on auto auction activity and attends auctions regularly. Approves auction paperwork and maintains proper documentation. Coordinates delivery of purchased vehicles with the used vehicle department manager. Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. At least two years of automotive sales or sales management experience. Ability to read and understand instructions and information. Valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Authorization to work in the USA. Ability to perform duties safely and pass pre-employment testing, including background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and valid driver license.
