Haley & Aldrich is growing, and we are currently seeking an entry-level Staff Geotechnical Engineer 1 to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. We offer new engineers the opportunity to work on challenging geotechnical and environmental projects for a wide range of clients.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company. The position includes travel to/from job sites and working outside of the office to support/oversee site and subsurface characterization field programs for environmental and geotechnical projects. It may also involve providing field support during the construction phase of projects. This full-time position will be located in our New York City or Parsippany, NJ office.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide construction monitoring and on-site engineering observation for geotechnical and environmental projects. Perform site reconnaissance to observe existing conditions, assess site access for subsurface explorations, and identify important site features. Monitor subsurface exploration activities, including test boring, geoprobe rigs, and machine excavated test pits to gather soil and bedrock samples. Conduct field investigations, including soil and groundwater sampling in accordance with ASTM standards and industry guidelines. Conduct geotechnical engineering analyses. Compile, analyze, and report field, instrumentation, geological, and environmental data using spreadsheets and other tools. Use various geotechnical and environmental instrumentation and equipment. Support the preparation of reports, proposals, cost estimates, and other client deliverables. Adhere to Site Specific Health and Safety Plans; participate in safety briefings and audits. Minimum requirements include: B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering or related field. 0 to 3 years of geotechnical engineering experience. Compliance with company principles and safety protocols. Excellent communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office. Interest in obtaining professional engineering registration (EIT or FE). Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. The salary range in New York City, NY is $57,000 - $90,000 annually; in Parsippany, NJ, it is $58,000 - $73,000 annually. Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, and market conditions.
