Job Description - Mechanical & CAD Design Engineer, Coventry RI (336993)

Mechanical & CAD Design Engineer The Mechanical Design/CAD Design Engineer will manage and create all drafted documentation associated with projects, primarily using SolidWorks CAD software. Responsibilities include 3D modeling, assemblies, 2D production drawings, project life‑cycle management, equipment procurement, as‑built documentation, and documentation for existing equipment systems. This position is onsite in Coventry, Rhode Island.

What you’ll be doing as a Mechanical & CAD Design Engineer

CAD Operation/Design; preparing design drawings, details, and sketches from sketches, concepts or mark‑ups provided by team engineers or project management staff

Drawing and plot drawings to scale, as required

Working under the direction of the CAD Manager to design complex drawings, construction documents, routine design layouts, detailed drawings, equipment skid and piping

Prepare complex drawings, scaled equipment layouts, and equipment details

Prepare and work with bills of material and other construction documents

Develop equipment/material schedules and material takeoffs, from drawings or sketches

Support preparation of requests for bids for subcontractors and material vendors, as directed

Create and markup existing PDF documents using Adobe

Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, and reviewing relevant technical publications

Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely manner

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information

Strong ability to be adaptable and flexible to shifting priorities and changes

Ability to function effectively in a collaborative team environment

What you need to be successful

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required

At least 2 years of professional experience working with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs., and to team lift up to 50 lbs.

Ability to perform prolonged kneeling, squatting, sitting, crawling, and climbing stairs, ladders and work stands

Ability to stand for extended periods during the entire duration of shift

Excellent hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small components and tools

Flexibility to bend, stoop, and crouch as required for tasks

Good vision, including the ability to focus on small details and identify defects
