Forestry Product Service Engineer – North America
Caterpillar’s Excavation Division (EXD) is hiring a
Forestry Product Service Engineer
for North America. The primary purpose is to maximize customer value by quickly addressing field issues that can lead to downtime and erode customer confidence.
What You Will Do
Dealer Advocate – Main contact for field reps and Caterpillar dealers, addressing technical queries and product issues. Communicate both customer and dealer needs to internal engineering teams.
Product Problem Management – Manage product issues, support root cause investigations, and provide technical expertise to troubleshoot machine issues.
Service Engineering – Improve product repairability, maintenance, and serviceability. Create and publish service magazines, special instructions, and field rework requests.
Continuous Improvement – Support continuous product/serviceability improvement and warranty programs. Coordinate field iron returning and develop Interim Correct Action and Permanent Correct Action solutions.
New Product Introduction – Influence early phase New Product Introduction inputs and deliver go‑to‑market product support deliverables.
What You Have
Customer Focus – Proven ability to collaborate directly with customers, dealers, and field representatives to gather insights and improve product performance.
Service Excellence – Experience in planning and executing field follow programs and conducting serviceability audits.
Effective Communications – Strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrated through creating and publishing service communication channels.
Technical Excellence – Knowledge in product improvement processes, including CPI and defect resolution, ensuring high reliability, durability, and maintainability.
Top Candidates Will Also Have
Four‑year engineering or technical degree OR equivalent experience.
Knowledge or experience working with excavators (forestry and standard) and/or other forestry products is a benefit but not required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with global teams and customers. Strong collaboration skills.
Self‑starter with a pro‑active mindset, taking initiative to tackle challenges and drive effective solutions forward.
Additional Information
Location: Peoria, IL – Building AB
Travel 25‑50% (potential for international and domestic)
Domestic relocation assistance is available for this role.
This role requires 5 days a week in the office (M‑F).

Summary Pay Range $110,520.00 – $165,840.00
