Job Summary The Cardiology Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic testing and assisting in procedures within the department. These diagnostic tests and procedures include but are not limited to; electrocardiograms (EKG's), holter monitoring, stress testing, tilt table testing, and supporting in vein closure procedures. The Cardiology Technician is expected to support and train onboarding technicians. This position is primarily based in a 24/7 hospital inpatient facility that requires staff to perform job duties in critical care settings, patient care floors, inpatient lab as well in an outpatient lab settings.

Responsibilities

Proficient in performing Electrocardiograms (EKG) or both adult and pediatric population.

Proficient in performing holter monitoring

Supports in tilt table testing.

Supports in all areas of stress testing including, exercise treadmill testing (ETT), stress echo and nuclear stress testing.

Supports in the training of all entry-level technicians in the procedures related to electrocardiograms, holter monitoring, tilt table testing, stress tests and vein closure procedures.

Adheres to infection control policies and procedures.

Adheres to radiation safety policies and procedures.

Able to perform job duties in a timely and independent manner.

The ability to interact and communicate with physicians, cardiology fellows, advanced practice providers, management and fellow employees in a way that promotes teamwork and a productive working environment.

Structuring reports in the digital imaging PACS system.

Reconciliation of orders in PACS and EMR systems.

Keeps all equipment clean, stocked and in working order by replenishing supply of electrodes, paper/ink, and by reporting malfunctions for repair.

The ability to ensure the accuracy and completeness of work performed.

The ability to maintain a clean organized work area.

Performs chart readiness and confirmation calls to provides instructions to patients (if applicable)

Prepare procedure room for vein closure cases

Understanding of sterile techniques (knowledge not required at time of hire; training will be provided)

Vein closure inventory management for cases

Coordinated terminal cleanings between each case with our housekeeping department.

Insertion of IVs (knowledge is preferred but not required at time of hire; training will be provided)

Performs miscellaneous laboratory duties as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements Experience

1-2 years of experience working in a healthcare setting, required

Clinical experience, preferred

Experience performing holter monitoring, preferred

Education

High school or equivalency diploma, required

Licenses / Certifications

Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy Tech, and/or EKG certification, preferred

IV certification, preferred
