The California Public Utilities Commission Energy Division is leading efforts to achieve the State's goals towards decarbonization and reliable, clean energy access for all. Our Transportation Electrification team, within the CPUC's Energy Division, is in search of dynamic, creative leader to steer a multi-disciplinary team towards ensuring a zero-emission vehicle future for California. This team works across all vehicle types, including passenger vehicles, buses and trucks, and every utility customer sector including residential homes, multi-family buildings, workplaces, ports and other facilities. This team leads the Commission's efforts on vehicle-grid integration, grid planning for electrification and transportation electrification policy while closely coordinating with other State agencies, utilities, environmental organizations, ratepayer advocacy organizations and other stakeholders. Under general direction for the Program Manager, the Transportation Electrification Supervisor will oversee a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, utility engineers and consultants to ensure that investor-owned utility investments in vehicle-grid integration programs and electric vehicle charging infrastructure are just, equitable, reasonable and support electric grid reliability while incentivizing electric vehicle adoption. The position requires the ability to learn and understand transportation electrification policy and program implementation issues as well as technical analysis related to distribution grid planning. Successful candidates will be able to pro-actively identify opportunities and anticipate risks and challenges broadly in this policy area as well as identify gaps in program performance and the data necessary to inform future policies. This position will coordinate electric vehicle policy with multiple other clean energy programs and planning efforts that the CPUC oversees including demand response, energy storage, integrated resources planning and interconnection policy. This position will also lead team efforts in coordination with other State agencies and stakeholder groups. A successful candidate in this position will have demonstrated ability to manage a diverse team, train and develop team members, work plan towards concrete deliverables and report out to executive management and decision makers. Specific job duties include: Supervision: hiring, assigning work, evaluating employee work products, conducting employee performance reviews and training. Planning: organizing the work of the section, work prioritization, and ensuring sufficient resources are available to achieve the section’s goals. Policy Development: identifying and guiding staff deliverables and analysis to support short and long term policy changes including public investments.
