Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner: Outpatient/Community Mental Health - Saratoga Springs, New York Outpatient County Mental Health Opportunity Full Time - Addiction Medicine and Child/Adolescent Compensation Range: $124K - $164K (Tiered by years of experience.) Saratoga Hospital seeks a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) for Saratoga County Mental Health and Addiction Services - to be a part of a vibrant, creative team. Work as a member of Saratoga Hospital Medical Group – Behavioral Health in this community mental health setting. Interest in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry is helpful. We have two days available for Addiction Medicine and three days for Child/Adolescent (Youth). Full time or Part time will be considered for a practitioner specializing in these areas. Preference would be for a provider who can pivot to each service. Responsibilities

Job functions include: Psychiatric assessment and treatment:

This provider will meet with patients of our outpatient addiction treatment program (2 days per week) who have expressed a need for addiction services and of our outpatient child/youth mental health program (3 days per week) who have been identified as having a mental health diagnosis or a concern about mental health symptoms. This provider will gather relevant history, assess symptoms and prescribe medications as appropriate. This provider will have discretion as to how often to follow up with patients and will be allotted ample time with, generally one hour for adult assessments, 90 minutes for youth assessments, and 30 minutes for follow up sessions. Medication Assisted Treatment:

This provider will assess patients who struggle with relapse, urges and cravings and prescribe, when deemed appropriate, certain medications to support addiction recovery. These include Buprenorphine, Naltrexone, Vivitrol and potentially others. This provider may be asked to perform injections of Vivitrol when prescribed or to perform any other injections that emerge in addictions treatment. This provider will work with the Program Coordinator and Medical Director to ensure that any controlled substances are prescribed carefully with special attention to the characteristics of the population and the potential to abuse or divert medication. Health Assessments:

This provider will work with the program coordinator and medical director to ensure that regulatory requirements are met regarding assessing patient health status, referring to healthcare services and encouraging patient follow through. In addition, this provider will act as the Health Coordinator for Addiction Services. This will include face to face, noninvasive meetings with individual patients to assess their health status. Beyond regulations, this provider will have the opportunity to craft a plan for encouraging the good health of our patients, potentially including individual or group work around health topics. Multidisciplinary Team:

This provider will participate in team meetings, collaborating with various other providers to ensure quality, comprehensive care. This provider will receive clinical supervision from a psychiatrist with decades of experience in child and adolescent psychiatry, as well as from a psychiatrist with decades of experience in psychiatry and addiction medicine. This provider will receive assistance from registered nursing staff with regard to coordinating patient care, managing medication refills and prior authorizations, and administering injectable medications. Qualifications

Qualifications:

This provider must be a licensed Nurse Practitioner in NYS by the time of credentialing, with experience in the assessment of psychiatric disorders and the provision of psychiatric treatment. Supervision:

A Nurse Practitioner with fewer than 36,000 hours of experience will be supervised by a Collaborating Physician, in this case, the Medical Director of the Program. Supervision will be provided at least monthly, and as often as weekly. More frequent consultations will be available as needed. Practice Details

Participation:

Participation is expected, on a pro-rated level, dependent on FTE status, within our reasonable 1:10 (varies) hospital inpatient call schedule (paid) covering weeknights (by phone) and weekends. Weekend coverage includes rounding 8 - 5 p.m. on the mental health unit and performing new consultations. Team and setting:
