Mammography Technologist - PRN

Visit us online at: https://www.aikenregional.com Mammography technology to perform health care services utilizing mammography in screening for breast disease and to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of disease states. Performs mammography procedures and uses related techniques, producing images for interpretation by the Radiologist. Responsibilities

Properly checks equipment daily and ensures it is functioning. If not, notifies the appropriate person. Performs quality control (QC) on equipment at appropriate intervals. Prepares room, equipment, supplies and materials needed for procedures. Maintains a clean and stocked procedure room daily. Checks birth date, accession number and medical record number of the mammogram unit before starting the exam. Notifies proper personnel if any equipment is not operating properly. Performs patient care according to ARMC policy. Checks for old mammograms and obtains medical record release if performed at another facility. Reviews prior images to determine proper positioning and technical factors; interviews patient and records patient history and pertinent information for Radiologist. Breast self-examination education and documentation on history sheet. Assists Radiologists during procedures and takes films as requested. Accepts additional work during periods of low patient activity and assists others in the department as requested. Reviews reports for abnormal findings and determines which require further QA follow up. Contacts patient’s physician if mammogram report is positive and recommends additional follow up. Considers age-related factors in obtaining images or performing diagnostic or therapeutic studies. Ensures patient charges are entered into RMS in a timely manner and are accurate. Demonstrates knowledge and implements radiation safety procedures when working with radiation producing devices 100% of the time. Obtains and correctly documents verbal and telephone orders per facility policy (Only applies to ARRT licensed staff). Rotates to other imaging departments as needed; participates in holiday and on-call rotation requirements. Other duties as assigned. Benefits

Successful completion of a radiological program or equivalent military training. Experience:

One year in Mammography preferred. License or Registration Requirements:

ARRT registered; Mammography registered or have met MQSA requirements, BLS (or obtained within 90 days of employment), and current South Carolina license issued by SC Radiation Quality Standards Association. EEO Statement:
