Description
This candidate is an active Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, working 80% of their time in their designated clinical specialty and 20% in administrative duties. They supervise, coordinate, and administer the practice of advanced healthcare professionals (AHP), including nurse practitioners and physician assistants. The role ensures quality of care, serves as a role model, expert clinician, and mentor. The candidate also assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources. Responsibilities
The NP will work alongside attending physicians to care for surgical patients at UCLA West Valley Medical Center, including patients on General Surgery, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Urology services. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) functions in an interdependent role by implementing appropriate Standardized Procedures (SPs). Using the SPs, the NP can modify treatment regimens based on signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, behavior, and physical condition, as per the CA Nursing Practice Act. Provide and coordinate care for surgical patients, offer patient/family education, and promote safe continuity of care. Participate in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds, provide education and support, and make appropriate referrals. Document services rendered. The NP Supervisor will act as a resource for clinical skills for staff, residents, and fellows involved in surgical patient care. Develop and coordinate orientation and ongoing educational programs for all Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). Assist in coordinating NP/PA student placements and preceptors. In collaboration with the Medical Director, interview, hire, and evaluate all APP staff. Collaborate with surgical nursing and physician leadership to design and implement quality improvement projects based on outcomes data and identified areas for improvement. Work with hospital-wide committees to optimize the role of advanced practice providers. This is one APP Supervisor position to be filled as either a NP Supervisor or PA Supervisor. Salary range: $140,200 - $331,800 annually
