Position Summary The Universal Worker provides personalized care, support, and supervision to residents in the Assisted Living and Memory Care community during the overnight hours. This position promotes residents’ independence, dignity, and quality of life by assisting with daily living activities, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment, and maintaining accurate documentation of resident care and facility needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
Monitor and document residents’ well‑being throughout the shift, including safety checks and any changes in condition.
Respond promptly and appropriately to resident needs, including emergency situations.
Perform light housekeeping tasks, including cleaning common areas, and ensuring resident rooms are tidy and safe.
Assist with meal preparation.
Support residents with nighttime routines and ensure a calm and secure environment.
Follow individualized service plans and report any concerns or updates to the nurse or supervisor.
Adhere to infection control and safety procedures at all times.
Engage residents in meaningful interactions that promote comfort, reassurance, and emotional well‑being.
Participate in staff meetings, required trainings, and shift hand‑offs to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications
Previous experience in assisted living, memory care, or healthcare settings preferred.
Compassionate, dependable, and able to work independently overnight.
Strong observation, communication, and teamwork skills.
Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, and meet all state regulatory requirements.
Work Environment
Primarily works overnight in a secure assisted living/memory care setting.
May involve standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting residents throughout the shift.
A calm, supportive, and patient demeanor is required when working with individuals with memory loss or dementia.
