Overview
The Pain Management Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner (ARN P) / Pain & Whole Health Clinic Coordinator (PCC) is responsible for the care of the Pain Management patient - administrative needs of the Anesthesia/Pain Service Line per the Chief of Anesthesia and the Director/Pain Section Chief - and for coordinating activities within and between the various pain service activities - consulting & supporting services - as well as providing leadership within the multidisciplinary staff. The primary purpose of the incumbent is to provide direct Pain care within the Pain Clinic - as well as serve as a supervisor of Pain Clinic Whole Health (WH)/Complementary and Integrative Health (CIH) Staff from both divisions (Seattle and American Lake) and potentially other staff as assigned The Pain/Whole Health Coordinator Supervisory ARNP is responsible for the care of the Pain Management patient at both campuses of VAPSCHS (both Seattle and American Lake/Tacoma) - administrative needs of the Anesthesia/Pain Service Line per the Director/Pain Section Chief - and for coordinating activities within and between the various pain service activities - consulting & supporting services - as well as providing leadership within the multidisciplinary staff (e.g. - psychologists - pharmacists - physical therapists - nurses - schedulers - movement therapists - massage therapists - acupuncturists) to ensure optimal & efficient - Veteran-centered health care The incumbent will work under varying level of supervision - depending on the project - and must be responsible for sound decisions at all times The Pain/Whole Health Coordinator Supervisory ARNP will be directly responsible to the Pain Director for clinical - research - and administrative duties Duties include but not limited to: Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving multimodal Pain care through collaborative strategies with others Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership - experience - and creative approaches to management of complex Veteran care Demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for a group of Veterans Documents outcomes at the program or service level The Supervisory ARNP demonstrates (a) Leading and organizing delivery of care to assure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice - including access to care and discharge planning (b) Using advanced clinical knowledge/judgment to promote staff involvement in planning - decision-making - and evaluating outcomes - (c) Functioning as an expert in clinical practice and/or areas related to the assigned roles and responsibilities - (d) Systematically evaluating current practice - and formulating outcomes for groups of Veterans and/or organizational processes within an area of expertise - (e) Guiding - developing - and supporting staff from a leadership perspective - and (f) Using professional standards of care - scientific evidence - and practice to evaluate programs and/or service activities The Supervisory ARNP demonstrates knowledge and skills to: (a) Assess - diagnose - treat - and evaluate - care that promotes wellness and prevents disease/injury and disability (b) Order and/or interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures (c) - Perform treatments/procedures as indicated (d) Consult and collaborate with physicians and other health care professionals to manage complex health problems and (e) Direct care or manage systems of care for complex individuals/family/community populations VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary - regular salary increases - potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave - 13 days of sick leave - 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Monday-Friday - 8 am - 4:30 pm Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized
