Overview POSITION SUMMARY The Occupational Therapist will be directly involved in patient evaluation, planning, directing, and administering occupational therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician. They will assist patients in reaching their maximum performance and level of functioning by providing effective, quality care. They will ensure patient charges are accurate and entered timely. The Occupational Therapist will coordinate, delegate, and supervise support staff (COTA). The role involves providing effective, efficient, and quality care for a geriatric and adult population. Additional duties will be assigned by the supervisor. This position requires understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of AHMC-Seton Medical Center. Responsibilities JOB DESCRIPTION & COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT TOOL Safeguard self, others, patients, and equipment. Demonstrate understanding of personal and departmental roles in security, health, life, and safety plans. Understand and access information on MSDSs. Follow procedures for reporting faulty equipment or service issues. Participate in performance improvement activities and advocate for AHMC initiatives. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Apply infection control policies and practices consistently, including standard precautions and disease-specific isolation. Ensure sterility of supplies and equipment. Meet population/age-specific competencies as per unit addendum. Attend department-specific education, training, inservices, and meetings. Submit all required paperwork timely. Perform patient care within designated timeframes following AHMC policies. Work independently without constant supervision. Evaluate patients through functional assessments related to occupational therapy. Set goals and administer treatment plans. Modify plans as needed based on observations. Develop and evaluate teaching plans, including family training. Complete documentation accurately and timely. Delegate and supervise treatment to COTA, co-sign notes. Ensure patient charges are accurate, complete billing sheets daily, and maintain records properly. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program or equivalent education/experience. Valid OT license in California. Current BLS certification.
