Competent understanding of mechanical and plumbing systems and how they function. This includes the ability to survey mechanical systems, understand needs and problems, and determine repair, modification, and/or replacement requirements to provide prospects with solutions. Interpret drawings, equipment, and job conditions. Understand customer costs to own, operate, and maintain facilities. Able to translate that understanding into proposals and sales that enhance the customer’s facility while reducing long-term ownership and operating costs. Review specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and estimate contents. Estimate sizes, distances, quantities; or determine time, costs, resources, or materials needed for work activities. Develop proposals for current or prospective customers. Document account activities, generate reports, and keep records of transactions with customers and suppliers. Proposals: Develop, present, or respond to proposals for specific customer requirements, including RFP responses and industry-specific solutions. Provide modification, repair, or replacement recommendations and document these clearly for customers and operations to understand, proposing cost-effective solutions. Prospecting: Qualify prospects, deliver effective sales presentations, and respond to questions and objections responsibly. Understand prospects’ technical and financial needs. Follow up promptly on leads and referrals. Establish rapport, identify needs, and maintain an active backlog of quotes to meet booking goals. Customer Relations: Address customer concerns promptly to resolve problems and maintain positive, long-term relationships. Build rapport and productive relationships with customers, vendors, and outside agents. Represent the company’s interests effectively to maximize profits. Other: Plan and schedule appointments efficiently, manage personal time to maximize productivity, and aggressively manage quotes to close sales. What we're looking for in you Knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing systems and components. Experience with plumbing and industrial refrigeration is a plus. Ability to prepare financial justifications for solutions; understanding energy savings and LEED knowledge is a plus. Experience in customer relationship development and maintenance. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
