GEI's Marquette, Michigan office is seeking a motivated, staff-level structural engineer to assist with complex projects across the Midwest and the United States. This role offers an excellent opportunity to learn from senior experts and gain experience in various structural and geo-structural projects. The practice provides engineering services for a wide range of projects including: Building design Evaluation of building facades Testing and instrumentation Excavation support systems Dams and dam appurtenances Building foundations Levees, floodwalls, bridges, tunnels, and ground treatment Responsibilities include observing field explorations, performing analyses, preparing reports, and supporting design calculations. Essential Responsibilities & Duties
Provide engineering support on various projects including structural design and forensic engineering. Support evaluation and design of structural steel, reinforced concrete, dams, foundations, and other structures. Assist with feasibility studies and technical analyses for different structural systems and construction methods. Use geotechnical and structural software for analyses such as finite element modeling. Perform non-destructive testing and install instruments to monitor structures. Minimum Qualifications
MS or PhD in Structural Engineering from an accredited institution. 5-10 years of experience in structural engineering. Ability to obtain professional registration. Coursework in steel design, concrete design, soil mechanics, and foundations. Familiarity with analysis and design software (e.g., ENERCALC, Mathcad, SAP2000, STAAD, RISA). Experience with drafting software like Revit, Civil3D, or Microstation. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Valid driver's license and willingness to work in the field and in inclement weather. Ability to travel as needed.
