Job Duties
Ensure accurate and clinically relevant information is communicated with patients, their families, and co-workers during hand offs and as needed, to promote the best patient outcomes. Demonstrate competent assessment, planning, intervention, coordination, and evaluation skills based on the individual patient plan of care. Continuously assess patient and family needs to provide quality, patient-centered care. Apply critical thinking and judgment to implement patient care plans, nursing interventions, and procedures. Maintain accurate, real-time documentation of nursing care to ensure effective communication within the healthcare team, following hospital policies. Serve as a role model for current and new staff by fostering a healthy work environment. Respect and uphold the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and staff to ensure a professional and courteous environment. Direct other licensed and non-licensed personnel in patient care as assigned. Communicate effectively, including understanding non-verbal cues, fears, anxieties, and cultural or language barriers. Respond appropriately to emergencies and life-threatening situations within scope of practice. Adhere to patient safety practices throughout the care experience. Collaborate effectively with all members of the healthcare team. Provide ongoing education to patients and families. Delegate tasks to appropriate staff members, including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, PCTs, and others. Follow safety guidelines, report unsafe conditions, incidents, and injuries promptly. Department Specific Duties: Cardiovascular
Care for patients undergoing invasive procedures, including catheter insertion, monitoring, and care. Titrate intravenous medications based on hemodynamic status. Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret findings, and intervene as needed. Maintain sterile technique diligently during procedures. Ensure complete and accurate documentation of procedures. Operate ancillary equipment effectively. Collect and label specimens accurately. Assess, evaluate, and educate patients receiving treatment or undergoing diagnostic procedures. Communicate relevant clinical information to physicians. Participate in on-call schedules as needed after hours. Assist in maintaining adequate supply inventory. EP Specific Duties
Assist with tissue and organ retraction for optimal visualization. Use appropriate techniques to assist with hemostasis. Assist with closure of body plans as directed by the surgeon (sutures, staples, etc.). Licensure, Certification, Registration
All applicants must have: Current RN license in Iowa or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Mandatory Reporter training for Iowa Dependent Adult and Child Abuse, with certification submitted prior to start or transfer. Cardiovascular-specific requirements: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six months of hire if not current. Pay Rate Type
