Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to join our team, responsible for maintaining the student housing apartment portfolio for UC Berkeley students. This role involves performing a wide variety of tasks including repairs, preventative maintenance, and responding to service requests. The Maintenance Technician will work closely with the Senior Facilities Manager to ensure all apartments, common areas, and facilities are in excellent condition, providing a safe and comfortable living environment for residents. $27 to $30/hour, DOE Key Responsibilities
General Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting. Address and resolve service requests from residents in a timely manner, ensuring that all issues are handled professionally and with minimal disruption to the students. Conduct scheduled inspections and maintenance on building systems and equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure long-term efficiency. Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, and communicate any restocking needs to the Senior Facilities Manager. Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of common areas such as hallways, lounges, laundry rooms, and recreational spaces. Safety & Emergency Policy: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with OSHA standards, local codes, and company safety policies. Respond to after-hours emergencies on a rotational basis as needed, including issues related to plumbing, HVAC, electrical, or structural failures. Turnover & Routine: Assist with apartment turnovers at the end of the lease periods, including repairs, painting, and deep cleaning to prepare units for incoming residents. Assist with quarterly and routine apartment and property inspections to report service or repair needs and document any issues or damages. Work closely with the Senior Facilities Manager and other staff to ensure that maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and in alignment with resident satisfaction goals. Interact professionally and courteously with residents, addressing their concerns and providing updates on repairs or maintenance work.
