Overview

The Deep Space Exploration Business Development Lead will be responsible for leading the development of business strategies and opportunities in the deep space exploration sector. This role requires a visionary thinker, strong leader by influence, and strong business development (BD) skillset to ensure strategy alignment across teams and help put together complex multi-customer deals both internationally and commercially. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of exploration mission areas, awareness of other mission areas, and keep-sold strategies, as well as customer and domain knowledge of NASA, NSF, and other civil government agencies and commercial customers. The Deep Space Exploration Business Development Lead will support external outreach associated with advancing our Exploration programs. Responsibilities

Supporting all Business Development activities, including strategic planning, New Business Acquisition Expenditures (NBAE) management, and M&A activities. Developing and executing strategy plans, campaign plans, capture plans, value propositions, and proposal plans. Coordinating with the Civil Space Line of Business, Government Affairs, Engineering, Advanced Programs, and Business Operations to effectively formulate and execute winning offers. Contributing to the forecast of civil space markets and the strategies of our competitors. Demonstrating an understanding of Deep Space missions and strategic initiatives. Identifying and pursuing opportunities with non-traditional science customers, such as philanthropic ventures, to develop innovative partnerships and business models that advance deep space exploration. Building relationships with key stakeholders in the philanthropic and private funding communities to stay informed about emerging trends and opportunities. Collaborating with internal teams to develop tailored solutions and proposals that meet the needs of non-traditional customers and partners. Basic Qualifications

Deep knowledge of Deep Space Exploration mission areas and awareness of other mission areas and keep-sold strategies or similarly complex endeavors Customer and domain knowledge: NASA, NSF, and other civil government agencies and commercial customers. Demonstrated experience in BD & Strategic Capture; IRAD; CRAD; CRADA. U.S. Citizenship is required. Desired Skills

Demonstrated Strategic and Visionary thinker, strong leader by influence, and strong BD skillset. Existing familiarity with key NASA customers such as JPL, GSFC, APL, and HQ. Ability to think strategically and manage the development of long-range objectives and strategic plans. Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams in developing and delivering superior products with constrained schedules and resources. Existing relationships with civil and commercial customers/partners to enhance access to new business opportunities. Demonstrated knowledge of the space industry business capture process, including proposal development. Experience supporting major proposal efforts (e.g., for programs worth $50M or more). Experience working with non-traditional customers, such as philanthropic ventures, or a strong understanding of the philanthropic and private funding landscape in the space industry. Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the philanthropic and private funding communities. Strong understanding of innovative business models and partnership structures that can be used to advance deep space exploration with non-traditional customers and partners. Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits. Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off Compensation & Benefits

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $151,200 - $266,570. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. The salary information is a general guideline only.
