Infection Control/ Employee Health Nurse (RN)

The Employee Health & Infection Control Nurse has oversight over all infection control and prevention related activities within the organization. This role is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and improving infection control practices in accordance with hospital policies, national guidelines, and regulatory standards. The nurse also conducts surveillance, analyzes infection data, and leads initiatives to reduce hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). This individual is also responsible for all functions of the employee health program and coordinating activities, such as conducting employee health screenings, providing education on health and safety, maintaining immunization records and programs, and managing job-related illnesses and exposures to infectious diseases. Collaborate with department leaders to establish, implement, and ongoing analysis of quality assurance and improvement for infection control and employee health programs throughout the organization. Responsible for coordinating pre-employment testing, vaccination process, annual N95/TB/Influenza testing and/or vaccinations, and the management of potential blood exposures, employee illnesses and disease outbreaks. Develop, coordinate and implement the infection control program, which includes surveillance, analysis of data, developing reports, facilitating education, and maintaining policies and procedures. Develop, implement and maintain infection control policies and procedures in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Monitor, track and report hospital-acquired infections and other related infection data. Conduct surveillance of infection trends and provide timely feedback to staff and management. Educate and train staff on infection control practices, including hand-hygiene, isolation precautions and proper cleaning and sterilization techniques. Investigate and manage infection outbreaks, providing immediate intervention and ensuring containment measures are in place. Perform regular audits of infection control practices and provide recommendations for improvement. Stay updated with the latest infection control trends, guidelines and best practices through continuing education. Develop, coordinate and implement employee health initiatives and programs. Regularly collect, maintain, prepare, and submit data statistic reports to department leaders. Provide quarterly reports to Medical Staff. Education: Associate’s degree from an accredited school of Nursing; bachelor’s degree preferred Registered Nurse in the state of Kansas and must maintain registration required in the state of Kansas. BLS, ACLS for RN position. Experience & Skills Preferred: Minimum 2 years’ experience working in an acute hospital setting; previous experience working with employee health or infection control preferred Excellent skills in organization, prioritization and multi-tasking Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects Excellent interpersonal and technical skills Strong attention to detail Must have strong computer and research skills to ensure they remain up to date with new developments, best practices and standards of care within the field of healthcare.
